The digital signature is an intangible tool that permits guaranteeing the identity of the signer and the integrity of digital documents, permitting the possession of characteristics similar to those of paper documents.
It is a numeric value that is incorporated to the electronic document using a mathematical procedure, linked to the emitters’ password and the initial document. This permits to determine if the value has been obtained exclusively with the emitters’ password and the initial document has not been altered after the transmission. This guarantees the identity of the signer and the integrity of the sent text or message.
DIGITAL SIGNATURE CERTIFICATE (SSL)
A certificate of digital signature is an equivalent of an identification card. A name of an individual, a company, or any other entity is registered and certifies with a public password, which is included with the certificate, if in reality the person/identity is whom it says it is.
